Lead Data Engineer

I'm currently working with a leading organisation in the IT Services and Digital Transformation space who are looking to add an experienced Lead Data Engineer to their growing team.

This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in the development of a Microsoft Fabric-first data platform, helping to shape the future of data architecture and engineering across a range of enterprise-scale projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design, development, and optimisation of modern data platforms and solutions.
  • Build and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines using Azure technologies.
  • Drive best practices across data modelling, warehousing, governance, security, and quality.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship within data engineering projects.
  • Work closely with stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver business-focused solutions.
  • Support DevOps adoption across the data platform, including CI/CD and release management.

Key Skills

  • 6+ years' experience in Data Engineering, including senior-level responsibilities and technical leadership.
  • Strong experience designing and delivering scalable data pipelines and ETL/ELT solutions within Azure environments.
  • Excellent knowledge of data modelling, data warehousing, and lakehouse architectures.
  • Experience implementing DevOps practices, including Azure DevOps, version control, CI/CD pipelines, and multi-environment deployments.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Experience working with Microsoft Fabric.
  • Exposure to data platform migration and modernisation projects.
  • Knowledge of Power BI and wider analytics ecosystems.
  • Previous experience working in client-facing or cross-functional environments.
